Mission

Founded in 2009, Farhang Foundation Short Film Festival has become the first online short film, video and animation festival celebrating the Iranian heritage. All Iranian and non-Iranian filmmakers are invited to visualize an aspect of Iranian arts, history, culture, crafts, geography, or cuisine through the cinematic arts. The goal of the festival is to inspire and spark the audience's interest in learning more about Iranian art, history, and culture.

About the Festival

Now in its third consecutive year, the Farhang Foundation Short Film Festival 2011  has officially opened to the community at large. We are looking forward to receiving your submissions of short films visualizing an aspect of Iranian arts, history, culture, crafts, geography, cuisine, or lifestyle that will inspire and spark the audience's interest in learning more about Iranian art, history, and culture.

All entries will be judged for creativity, quality, and originality by a jury  that includes Farhang Foundation Festival Committee and film industry notables.

 

Guidelines

Submissions are to be less than 9 minutes in length, can be of any genre or style, visualizing an aspect of Iranian arts, history, culture, crafts, geography, cuisine, or lifestyle that will inspire and spark the audience's interest in learning more about Iranian art, history and culture. But in keeping with the spirit of Farhang Foundation’s mission, it is asked that submissions be non-religious in nature and refrain from endorsing or opposing any political position.

Awards Day – March 13, 2010

A special screening of the top three winning films, followed by an awards ceremony will take place at the Bing Theater of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art – LACMA. The screening and awards ceremony will be streamed live via webcast on FarhangFilmFest.org and coverage by local television media is currently being negotiated.
