Who am I? This basic question of personal identity sparked the idea for this powerful documentary.  My Nappy ROOTS is a vibrant depiction of the complex social, political, and cultural influences that have dominated the dialogue surrounding African American hairstyles.  A fascinating array of historians, entertainers, and hair care specialists provide historical, professional, and personal accounts of their black hair journey—exploring styling patterns, cultural trends, and the billion dollar a year black hair care industry.

My Nappy ROOTS has a running time of 78 minutes.  To find out more about the film visit www.mynappyrootsthemovement.com.

Please RSVP to rsvp@cafam.org or (323) 937-4230 x50.   Gallery will open at 6:30pm and seating is on a first-come-first-served basis.
