House Tries Again To Ban Videos of Animal Abuse

The House voted Monday to ban videos that depict the abuse and killing of animals. The measure would modify a 1999 law that the Supreme Court struck down in April on the ground that it was too broadly written and violated free-speech protections. The bill is subject to Senate approval. The narrower legislation makes it a crime to sell or distribute videos that violate bans on animal cruelty by showing animals being burned, drowned, suffocated or impaled.
