On April 15 controversial singer and storyteller, Mohsen Namjoo, performed for the first time at the Irvine Barclay Theater, in Orange County. A prelude to the concert was a talk and question and answer session with Namjoo, that took place the previous evening.

Gang of Four haven’t ever really gotten their due. Even as success has come to countless groups walking in their footsteps—from Bloc Party to Red Hot Chili Peppers—the pioneers of post-punk have somehow managed to stay just below the surface of pop culture. It certainly didn’t help that no new material had come from them in over 15 years.

On Sunday, March 27^th, the Iranian ensemble “Dang Show” performed to a sold-out show in Downtown Los Angeles’ Zipper Hall. Famed Iranian actor Reza Kianian took to the stage to introduce the band, explaining that the music is influenced by past favorites from the musical golden era of the 60’s and 70’s.
